India Most Optimistic Consumer Market for 2026: Report

Consumer sentiment in India continues to remain buoyant, with the country registering all-time record sales of personal vehicles and its smartphone market touching its highest levels in five years.

India will be the most optimistic consumer market in 2026, with household spending expected to surge from 2025 levels, driven largely by increased salaries and employment opportunities, according to a report released by wealth management platform Nuvama.
"India emerges as most optimistic consumer market for 2026. Indian consumer spending intent. Approx. 60 per cent of Indian consumers expect to increase household spending over the next six months," the firm stated.
Nuvama highlighted that automobiles and mobile phones would be the main drivers behind this higher expenditure, with at least 70% consumers planning to purchase a vehicle, and 63% indicated buying a cell phone in 2026.

Compared with global levels, Indian consumers were found to be more optimistic. Net optimism in India stood at 27 percent while the global average was estimated to be 12%.

Furthermore, approximately 61% said that they were expecting good times in 2026.
