In an interview with Sputnik, Sergei Naryshkin said the statement was taken seriously not only by Russia’s adversaries, but also by its partners.
“The President of the Russian Federation’s announcement about the successful completion of testing of the Burevestnik and Poseidon weapons systems, of course, made a serious impression on both our opponents and our partners,” Naryshkin said.
“Most politicians, military officials, and experts in the West did not expect Russia to be able to develop such advanced weapons systems in such a relatively short period of time.”
President Putin first announced the successful completion of the tests in late October 2025. On November 4, 2025, Russia’s National Unity Day, he presented awards in the Kremlin to the developers of the two strategic systems.
Speaking at an expanded meeting of the Russian Defense Ministry board on December 17, 2025, Putin said that Burevestnik and Poseidon would remain unique for a long time, adding that they would help ensure strategic parity, national security, and Russia’s global standing for decades to come.
