Russian President Vladimir Putin’s announcement about the successful completion of tests of the nuclear-powered cruise missile Burevestnik and the underwater unmanned vehicle Poseidon has made a strong impression internationally, according to Sergei Naryshkin, Director of Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service.
In an interview with Sputnik, Sergei Naryshkin said the statement was taken seriously not only by Russia’s adversaries, but also by its partners.
“The President of the Russian Federation’s announcement about the successful completion of testing of the Burevestnik and Poseidon weapons systems, of course, made a serious impression on both our opponents and our partners,” Naryshkin said.
“Most politicians, military officials, and experts in the West did not expect Russia to be able to develop such advanced weapons systems in such a relatively short period of time.”
