The meeting took place as part of the Indian Chief of Defense Staff’s official visit to Armenia.
“Minister Papikyan highly valued the current level of Armenian-Indian cooperation in the defense sphere, emphasizing the importance of regularly implementing cooperation programs. General Chauhan expressed the readiness of the Armed Forces of India to continue developing cooperation in existing areas and to initiate new directions of mutual interest,” the statement published on the Armenian Defense Ministry’s website said.
It was noted that the participants also discussed a number of issues related to regional and international security.
India’s Ambassador to Armenia, Nilakshi Saha Sinha, was also present at the meeting.
Later, the ministry’s press service reported that General Chauhan was received by the Chief of the General Staff of Armenia’s Armed Forces, Edward Asryan. The interlocutors reviewed the progress of implementing the bilateral cooperation plan and addressed several issues concerning the effective execution of activities planned for 2026. They underscored the importance of educational initiatives, professional retraining, military exercises, and experience-sharing across various domains.
Asryan outlined the main directions of the transformation of Armenia’s armed forces, emphasizing the importance of defense cooperation between Yerevan and New Delhi within this process.
