"Iran does not have a nuclear weapon, and they’ve agreed to that. Iran’s agreed to that, and they’ve agreed to it very powerfully. They’ve agreed to give us back the nuclear dust that’s way underground because of the attack we made with the B-2 bombers," Trump was quoted as saying by The Washington Post newspaper on Thursday.
Trump referred to the nuclear material as "nuclear dust," meaning highly enriched uranium, the daily reported.
Meanwhile, he said a final agreement with Iran might not be reached.
"We haven't settled yet. Maybe we won't," Trump said, speaking to supporters in Las Vegas on Thursday.
At the same time, Trump promised that next week's events could lead to a "pleasant surprise" in the form of lower oil prices and, consequently, lower gasoline prices.
The American leader also reiterated that the conflict with Iran would soon be resolved, but refrained from giving any specific timeframe for its completion.
On Thursday, Trump said that another meeting between Washington and Tehran could take place as early as this weekend amid the ongoing ceasefire between the two countries.
On February 28, the United States and Israel launched strikes on targets in Iran, including in Tehran, causing damage and civilian casualties. On April 11, Iran and the United States held talks in Islamabad after Trump announced an agreement with Tehran on a two-week ceasefire. On April 12, Vice President JD Vance said Iran and the US had failed to make a deal.
