Vinay Choletti, head of WhatsApp's India payment business, on Wednesday resigned amid an ongoing exodus at the top level in the company’s largest user market.The announcement came amid last month's massive layoffs at Meta*, which terminated 11,000 employees in a restructuring bid.Graduating from India’s top management school IIM-A, Cholleti took over the top role for WhatsApp Pay in September following the departure of Manesh Mahatme.Meta has been finding it hard to challenge the dominance of Google Pay, Walmart’s PhonePe, and Paytm in India’s payments market, which is estimated to be worth $1 trillion by 2025.*Meta is banned as an extremist organization in Russia.

Vinay Choletti, head of WhatsApp's India payment business, on Wednesday resigned amid an ongoing exodus at the top level in the company’s
largest user market."As I move on to my next adventure, I strongly believe that WhatsApp has the power to phenomenally transform digital payments and financial inclusion in India and I look forward to seeing it leverage its potential in the coming years," Choletti wrote on LinkedIn.
