India began its year-long presidency of the G20 earlier this month, at a time of geopolitical turmoil and uncertainty amid the post-pandemic economic recovery.
With a focus on advancing the agenda of the digital economy, India on Wednesday launched "Stay Safe Online" and the "G20 Digital Innovation Alliance" campaigns.
The initiatives aim to promote digital innovation and enhance cybersecurity for G20 member countries.

"The two campaigns launched today have the humanitarian way of thinking,” Ashwini Vaishnaw, India's IT minister, underlined.

They aim to raise awareness about the importance of staying safe online, particularly in light of the widespread use of social media platforms and the rapid adoption of digital payments. The campaign seeks to educate citizens about the risks of sharing personal information online and the importance of protecting themselves from cyber threats.

India Offers Innovative Digital Solutions

Launching the G20 Digital Innovation Alliance (G20-DIA), IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said the G20-DIA will identify and recognize innovative digital technologies developed by startups from the G20 and invited non-member countries.
These G20-DIA will enable their adoption in order to address the needs of humanity in sectors such as agri-tech, health-tech, ed-tech, fin-tech, secured digital infrastructure, and circular economy, the ministry added.
India hopes that the G20-DIA will help to accelerate the global acceptance of its innovative digital platforms, such as the Unified Payment Initiative (UPI) and Aadhar.
The UPI is a payment system that allows for the instant transfer of money between bank accounts with the use of a mobile phone, while Aadhar is a unique identification system that uses biometric data to verify an individual's identity.
By showcasing these technologies through the G20-DIA, India may hope to demonstrate their value and potential to a global audience, leading to increased interest and adoption in other countries.
