A pastor was arrested in Uttar Pradesh state on Christmas for allegedly enticing members of a scheduled caste to convert to Christianity.
A senior police officer suffered head injuries on Monday while trying to stop an enraged mob, who attacked a church in Narayanpur District in India's Chhattisgarh state. The officer, Superintendent of Police Sadanand Kumar, was rushed to a hospital as blood started oozing out of his head.

According to the report, the incident occurred after a meeting called by a tribal group to protest against a clash that took place between two communities over allegedly "forced" religious conversions in Narayanpur District on Sunday.
The protest turned violent and people from both the religious groups started hurling chairs and stones at each other.
Security personnel arrived at the site of the incident to curb the unrest.
While talking to the media at the hospital, Kumar said that the protesters had arrived near Vishwa Dipti Christian School in the afternoon and tried to charge towards the church, which is located on the school's premises.
"After being alerted about it, I immediately rushed to the spot with other officials and tried to pacify the protesters. They seemed convinced and were about to return. But suddenly someone hit me with a stick on my head," Kumar said.
