India Resolved to ‘Prepare Youth for the New Century’: Modi
The Modi government launched ‘Rozgar Mela’, a recruitment drive for one million personnel in October last year to boost job opportunities among Indian youth.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday highlighted the country's new National Education Policy, which, according to him, helps prepare the country's youth "for the new century".
Addressing the Uttarakhand edition of “Rozgar Mela” ("employment fair") virtually, Modi said it is not just a life-changing opportunity for those who have got the appointment letters today, but also a "medium of holistic change."
“With your sense of service, you have to contribute your best in the efforts of development and trust in the state and the nation. The new National Education Policy prepares the youth of India for the new century,” Modi said, welcoming the new recruits.
Highlighting the constant endeavor of the federal government to create new opportunities for young people based on their interests, Modi said that in the states and union territories where there is a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government, there had been a large-scale recruitment drive.
“In the past few months, the federal government has given appointment letters to hundreds of thousands of youths,” he said, adding that it's been the government's continuous effort to ensure new opportunities and modes to move forward for every young person on the basis of their interests and abilities.
Earlier, on January 20, Modi distributed 71,000 appointment letters to new recruits to government departments and organizations as part of the recruitment drive.
Prior to that, 75,000 appointment letters were distributed in October 2022 when the first phase of the recruitment drive was launched.
The latest event was part of a campaign launched by the Modi government to provide 100,000 jobs at the central level.
