Foxlink designs, makes and sells cable assemblies, connectors, power management devices, and battery packs for several global tech giants.
Production was halted at a Foxlink factory in India's Andhra Pradesh state after a massive fire broke out late Monday night. Foxlink is a major cable supplier to global tech giant Apple.
No immediate casualties were reported from the fire.
At least 750 people work at the factory located in the Tirupati district, but all of them managed to get out in time just as the fire broke out. Police said that the fire started at 1.15 p.m. (IST).
“There were three sheds in the unit. The largest shed, where the production used to happen, was charred while the two others were safe as the timely arrival of fire brigades ensured that the fire didn’t spread much,” Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of Tirupati's Renigunta area A. Ramachandra told media.
The company, he said, is yet to lodge an official complaint as it is still estimating the damages in coordination with the fire and electricity departments
Media reports quoting police sources said the fire spread because of fiber, sheets and sponges stocked at the factory. The cause of the fire could not be immediately ascertained.
