Developing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's initiatives - 'Make in India' and 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' (Self-reliant India) - the country's Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) has been collaborating with private firms in developing missile systems and rockets.
The Indian Navy has revealed that it has taken delivery of its first privately manufactured, fully indigenous fuze - YDB-60 - for its underwater Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) Rocket, RGB-60.
The fuze - a cylindrical device installed in submarine rockets - is designed to detonate an explosive material in the sea and hit the target underwater.
The chief managing director of the Nagpur city-based private Indian industry, Economic Explosives Ltd (EEL), Satyanarayan Nandlalji Nuwal, delivered the first consignment of the fuze to the deputy chief of the Indian Navy, Vice-Admiral Satishkumar Nandeo Ghormade.
Calling it a major achievement for the country and a big boost to the Indian Armed Forces, Ghormade said that the growing participation of private industries in manufacturing armaments and ammunition is remarkable.
