Construction of the 1,100 sq ft 3D-Printed Post Office is expected to cost 30-40% less than conventional buildings, around $284,000, and is to be completed in 30 days using new technology.
The world's fastest-growing tech ecosystem, Bengaluru, in India’s Karnataka state has once again made headlines for the upcoming first-of-its-kind 3D-Printed Post Office.
Being built using 3D printing technology, the Post Office building at Cambridge Layout in Bengaluru’s Ulsoor city is being implemented by Larsen & Toubro.
India's First 3D-Printed Post Office, a pilot project, has already created a lot of buzz on social media with the glimpse of under-construction property, even drawing a reaction from Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, chief of Biocon.

“Hope this is the shape of things to come!!", she tweeted on Monday.

3D Technology is Our Future

S. Rajendra Kumar, chief postmaster general of the Karnataka circle, told Indian media that since futuristic 3D technology is the future, he felt that such initiatives would encourage interest in low-cost housing.
Kumar shared that depending on the success of this pilot project, the postal department might plan to construct post offices in 400 locations where postal services are not accessible.
“We have over 400 vacant sites where we want to build post offices. After the construction of this building, we will prepare a report and submit it to the department. Then based on the existing guidelines, if they accept this report, then more such post offices are to be expected,” said Kumar.
