Fans Elated as Apple Opens First Store in India
Apple has been expanding its footprints in India recently. Last November, Federal Telecom and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said that the country is set to get the biggest iPhone manufacturing unit in Hosur in Bengaluru's city of Karnataka.
Apple CEO Tim Cook launched company’s first retail store in the Bandra Kurla Complex in India's Mumbai city on Tuesday.
He opened the gates and greeted fans who were waiting in long queues several hours ahead of the grand opening.
One fan was even seen carrying a vintage Apple computer he brought to the scene to show his love for the brand that goes back to 1984.
While talking to the media, the man said: “I brought this just to show Apple's journey. I bought this in 1984, and since then, have been using Apple products. This is a two megabyte, black and white computer but now Apple is making 4K, even 8K resolution displays, so Apple has come a long way.”
In a video now circulating on social media, Cook was seen meeting the Apple loyalist, reportedly named Sajid.

The store is one of the most energy-efficient Apple stores in the world. It is operationally
carbon-neutral, running on 100% renewable energy.
The store has more than 100 team members who can collectively speak over 20 languages.
The store also offers
Apple Pickup, where customers can place an order online and pick up products at their own convenience.
Apple also announced a special Today at Apple series – “
Mumbai Rising” – running from opening day through summer.
After Mumbai, the company will also open another retail outlet in the Saket area of New Delhi on Thursday.
