The objective of the meeting was to review the work of the home ministry and evolve an action towards achieving Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Vision 2047’, the year when India aspires to be a developed nation.
Indian home minister Amit Shah has directed officials to “fast track” the construction of roads and fencing in border areas, as per an official statement after a ‘Chintan Shivir’ (brainstorming) meeting of his department in New Delhi on Tuesday.
Shah urged officials to make on-site visits to monitor the progress of various developments schemes.
The meeting takes place after Shah inaugurated the ‘Vibrant Villages’ programme during a visit to the north-eastern state of Arunachal Pradesh. Under the scheme, New Delhi would upgrade the infrastructure in nearly 3,000 villages in Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Union Territory of Ladakh, all along the Sino-Indian border.

Usage of AI in Criminal Investigation

The home minister also underscored the need for “developing an ecosystem” for cybercrime management, modernisation of police forces and increased use of Information Technology (IT) in the criminal justice system.
Importantly, Shah asked the officials to enhance the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to utilize the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network & Systems (CCTNS) database for critical analysis of crimes.
The CCTNS is online network geared towards investigation of crime and detection of criminals in order to combat criminal activities.
Shah said that such an approach would help in making Indian cities safer for women, children and vulnerable communities, as per the statement.
