According to Thai PBS, India will convene a Thai-initiated roundtable dubbed "Track 1.5 Dialogue" on Tuesday to discuss the current situation in Myanmar and explore potential solutions to the crisis that has engulfed the Southeast Asian country since a military coup took place there in February 2021.The upcoming Delhi-hosted dialogue will take place at the Indian Council of World Affairs, a think tank located in India’s capital and linked to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a source confirmed to the publication. The second meeting will be attended by high-ranking officials, analysts from ASEAN member states and dialogue partners who share their borders with Myanmar. Among the dignitaries expected to arrive are delegates from Thailand, Laos, Bangladesh, India, China, Cambodia, Indonesia and Japan. The theme of the meeting will be "peace and reconciliation" and humanitarian aid, as well as finding a way to implement the ASEAN consensus on Myanmar, which consists of five points: From 1949 until the mid-1990s, armed formations consisting of major national minorities waged a civil war against the Myanmar (formerly Burmese) army. According to regional observers, the outbreak of armed conflicts between the Myanmar military and ethic insurgents in 2021-2022, following the military takeover in Myanmar, translates to a resumption of a nationwide civil war.Mirozam and Manipur, two northeastern states in India, are now providing shelter to thousands of refugees pouring in primarily from the Chin state and Sagaing region, which are known as strongholds of resistance against the military and where the fighting has been the most intense.
