In the wake of heavy downpours in the hill states, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a rain alert across North and South India late Monday night, as the month of May kicked in.
“Light to moderate rainfall with a few spells of intense rain, thunderstorms & lighting are very likely to continue over parts of Kerala, Tamil Nadu, south interior Karnataka, northeast India, central & east Uttar Pradesh, West Bihar, East Madhya Pradesh, north Chhattisgarh and Jammu division during the next six hours,” the IMD said in the statement.
