Met Gala, one of the most talked-about fashion events for fund-raising, witnessed several top Hollywood and Bollywood celebs acing the fashion game at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City on Monday.
Turns out Met Gala 2023 has its own India connect: the iconic beige white carpet with swirls of red and blue was in fact woven by artisans from the southern Indian state of Kerala.
Kerala-based design studio, Neytt by Extraweave, led by two Indian designers, Sivan Santhosh, and Nimisha Srinivas, are the masterminds behind the 'Made in India' carpet.
It took the artisans around 60 days to complete the carpet which was made from sisal fibers and painted by designers in the United States.

Kerala artisans made their way to the Met Gala by weaving its iconic white carpet.
According to the reports, the carpet was created in line with the vision of Japanese architect Tadao Ando.
Neytt by Extraweave took to Instagram to share a picture of the carpet and wrote: "A proud moment for our team to provide carpets to the Met Gala for the second time in a row. Contemporary design, woven with love, rooted in Kerala. Made in India."
Themed as 'Karl Lagerfield: A Line of Beauty', Met Gala 2023 paid tribute to the late legendary creative director of the French fashion house Chanel.
Hollywood celebrities that graced the gala included Karlie Kloss, Nicole Kidman, Margot Robbie, Kylie Jenner, Jennifer Lopez, Robert Pattison, Jared Letto, Rihanna, Zendaya, Kim Kardashian, and Gigi Hadid.
Some Indian celebrities who walked the white carpet included Indian-American actress Priyanka Chopra Jonas with husband-singer Nick Jonas, actress Alia Bhatt, entrepreneur Isha Ambani and style icon Natasha Poonawala.
