On Saturday, Charles III was crowned King at London's Westminster Abbey in a grand ceremony, while his wife Camilla has taken the title of Queen consort.
Priya Mallick, a 29-year-old from the Hooghly district of West Bengal, designed a dress for Queen Consort Camilla and a brooch for King Charles III. According to the fashion designer she created the items for the coronation ceremony.
Mallick told local media that she had even received a letter from the royal family thanking her and inviting her to attend the coronation ceremony.
"It was an incredible feeling when I came to know that the queen and the king appreciated my designs of the dress and brooch. When I received the letter of appreciation, I was thrilled. One email or letter from Buckingham Palace means a lot more to me," Mallick told the Indian news agency PTI on Saturday.
Mallick, a resident of Badinan village, graduated in fashion design online from Milan University in Italy. Later, she also completed her Masters' degree there.
"I won the International Fashion Designer Marathon in Milan in 2019, Fashion Stylist of the Year in 2020, and the Real Super Women Award in India in 2022," she shared, adding that she wouldn't be able to attend the coronation due to health reasons.
During the coronation ceremony held on May 6, Queen Consort Camilla wore a regal white coat long-sleeve silk dress designed by Bruce Oldfield, with an embroidered underskirt underneath during the ceremony, and King Charles III went with coronation wardrobe codes.
