The main difference between the "Ptitselov" complex on the BMD-4M chassis and the similar BMP-3 based on the SAM is the possibility of dropping it from military transport aircraft by parachute.
A Rostec representative said that the short-range anti-aircraft missile system, with a Sosna combat module that was previously created based on the BMP-3, continues to be tested.
"A similar vehicle was developed in the interests of the Airborne Forces on the basis of the BMD-4M," the corporation said.
The Sosna combat module is equipped with two launchers for 12 Sosna-R missiles capable of hitting air targets at a range as far as 10 km and at an altitude of up to 5 km.
The "Sosna-R" guided missile can reach speeds of up to 900 m/s steered by a laser beam, accompanied from the SAM combat module.
