Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has met with Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva at the Group of Seven (G7) summit in Hiroshima, discussing bilateral and regional issues, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs informs.

The Sunday meeting was the first one between Modi and Lula. The Indian prime minister and Brazil’s president also exchanged views on regional developments. "They emphasized the importance of continued cooperation in multilateral platforms, and the long-standing need of reform of multilateral institutions," India’s foreign ministry said, adding that Modi "looked forward to welcoming President Lula in India for the G-20 Summit in September this year."On Saturday, Modi met with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida in Hiroshima, discussing regional and bilateral issues and their respective G-20 and G-7 presidencies. The G7 Summit is being held in Hiroshima from May 19-21 and focuses on the Ukrainian conflict, economic security, green investments, and developments in the Indo-Pacific region.The leaders of India, Australia, Brazil, South Korea, Vietnam, Indonesia, Comoros, and the Cook Islands have been invited to participate in the G7 Summit as well as the heads of seven international organizations, including the United Nations, the World Bank, and the World Health Organization (WHO).

11:13 21.05.2023 (Updated: 12:46 21.05.2023) MOSCOW (Sputnik) - Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has met with Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva at the Group of Seven (G7) summit in Hiroshima, discussing bilateral and regional issues, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs informs.
The Sunday meeting was the first one between Modi and Lula.
"The leaders noted that this year marked the 75th anniversary year of establishment of diplomatic relations. They reviewed their Strategic Partnership, and discussed ways to further deepen it," India’s foreign ministry said, adding that Modi and Lula "emphasized the need to organize a high level meeting of business leaders from both countries."
The Indian prime minister and Brazil’s president also exchanged views on regional developments.
