On Saturday, the Russian Defence Ministry said in a statement that the liberation of the city of Artemovsk (Bakhmut) has been completed.
Ukraine's best response after losing Artemovsk would be to seek peace, an ex-US State senator has told Sputnik in an exclusive intercation.
"Russia has won the biggest battle in Europe since World War II," former Virginia State Senator Richard Black said.

"Those losses will pressure [Ukraine's President Volodymyr] Zelensky to launch an offensive to prove he still has combat power, though a wiser path might be to seek peace and stop further bloodshed."
