The Ladakh region is a strategic location between India and China. However, the place is known for its magnificent blue lakes and high mountain stretches. 60 per cent of the population in the union territory earns their livelihood through tourism.
Soon tourists will be able to enjoy cruise bikes and other activities in the strategically located Chang Chenmo sector in eastern Ladakh, an Indian media report said on Friday.
Chang Chenmo is located near the patrolling posts north of Pangong Lake in eastern Ladakh. But as of now, tourists cannot visit the area.

As per media reports, first, tourists will be allowed to visit the 18,314-foot-high Marsimik La (pass) and Tsogtsalo, a pastureland near the confluence of the Rimdi Chu and Chang Chenmo rivers some 160 km east of Leh, close to the Line of Actual Control (LAC) running north of Pangong.

Later, tourists will be able to visit Hot Springs, which is higher up, from Tsogtsalu.
Tourists will also be able to visit the memorial to the 10 CRPF jawans who died on 21 October, 1959, when the Chinese Army reportedly attacked their patrol.

Ladakh Tourism Finally Given a Fresh Start

In August 2021, the Indian government ended the Inner Line Permit (ILP) – a pass required for all Indians to visit the inner areas of Ladakh. However, the areas close to the disputed parts of the LAC remained out of bounds for visitors.
This was also one of the longest pending demands of residents living in the area.
The decision to open the zones came following two rounds of discussions between the top authorities and the local Army commanders in December 2022.
The administration was reportedly in favour of opening the area in April this year, but the process was delayed due to unknown reasons.
