Some of India's top wrestlers, including Tokyo and Rio Olympics bronze medalists Bajrang Punia and Sakshi Malik have been demonstrating in New Delhi since April 23.
The police on Sunday cracked down on wrestlers, who have been on a three-month-long protest, as they attempted to move ahead with their plan of marching to the new parliament complex and launch a rally there.
Among the demonstrators who were taken into custody by the Delhi Police were top women wrestlers Vinesh Phogat and Sakshi Malik and former men's World No.1 Bajrang Punia.

Besides detaining the grapplers, the authorities also cleared the protest site in central Delhi.

'We're Ready': Protesting Indian Wrestlers Accept Federation Chief's Challenge
The move by police came at a time when the wrestlers had announced a 'Mahila Samman Mahapanchayat' (women's assembly) in front of the new parliament building in their latest bid to force the government to arrest the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) President, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh.
The protesters have accused Singh of sexual misconduct against women wrestlers at training camps and during tournaments.
The Delhi Police have registered two complaints against the WFI chief, including one of sexually abusing a minor.
Despite the registration of the FIRs, Singh has yet to be arrested by the cops, forcing the wrestlers to continue with their protests in the heart of Delhi.
But with the wrestlers detained, and the protest site cleared, it would be interesting to see what the grapplers are going to do next.
