A Ukrainian woman who plotted to traffic orphans from Russia's new regions to foreign countries has been detained by the Russian authorities and already deported.
The woman said that on the instructions of a volunteer named Anastasia, she was to go to Genichesk (Russia's Kherson region) and arrange guardianship of two children there. Thereafter, she was to leave for Kiev, and from there fly to Germany.
The detained woman is not related to the children.
On 5 October 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a constitutional law making the Donetsk People's Republic, the Lugansk People's Republic, Kherson region and Zaporozhye region parts of the Russian Federation, after both chambers of parliament ratified the treaties.
