This isn't the first time former Congress Party president Rahul Gandhi has alleged that his phone is being tapped; it also happened in 2021.
While claiming knowledge of his phone being tapped, India's opposition leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday in a lighter vein said: "Hello! Mr Modi" on his iPhone.
Rahul Gandhi, who is currently in California, on Wednesday visited the Plug and Play Tech Centre, one of the largest incubators of start-ups in the world.
"I presume my iPhone is being tapped. You need to establish rules about the privacy of data information as a nation and also as an individual," Gandhi stated as he participated in a panel discussion with techies on various issues, including artificial intelligence (AI), big data, and its implications for humans, including disinformation and misinformation.
"If a nation-state decides that they want to tap your phone, no one can stop you. This is my sense," Gandhi stressed, adding that "If the nation is interested in tapping the phone, this is not a battle worth fighting. I think whatever I do and work is available to the government."
Gandhi is on a 10-day visit to the United States, where he is scheduled to visit three cities on the whole — San Francisco, Washington DC, and New York City.
