Nepalese Prime Minister Pushpa Kumar Dahal Prachanda raised the issue of the unresolved border dispute with India during the bilateral discussions in New Delhi on Thursday.Prime Minister Modi said in his press statement that New Delhi has resolved to make its relationship with Kathmandu "higher than the Himalayas".In 2020, the Nepalese Parliament approved a new country map which showed the areas of Kalapani, Limpiyadhura and Lipulekhas part of Nepal.These areas are part of India’s Uttarakhand state, per New Delhi.The Nepalese parliamentary vote came after Indian Defense Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated a new road to the Hindu pilgrim site of Kailash Mansarovar (in Tibet Autonomous Region) which passes through the disputed regions.While Kathmandu says that these areas are part of Nepal under the Treaty of Sugali signed in 1816, New Delhi has maintained that Kathmandu’s claims have no “historical basis”.

Nepal’s PM Prachanda Urges Modi to Resolve Border Dispute
15:09 01.06.2023 (Updated: 15:30 01.06.2023) Nepalese Prime Minister Pushpa Kumar Dahal Prachanda is on a four-day state visit to India, his first foreign visit since assuming power in the Himalayan country last year.
Nepalese Prime Minister Pushpa Kumar Dahal Prachanda raised the issue of the unresolved border dispute with India during the bilateral discussions in New Delhi on Thursday.
“Prime Minister Modi ji and I discussed the boundary matter. I urged Prime Minister Modiji to resolve the boundary matter through established bilateral mechanisms,” Prachanda stated during the joint press statement at Delhi's Hyderabad House, the state guest house of the Indian Prime Minister.
Prime Minister Modi said in his press statement that New Delhi has resolved to make its relationship with Kathmandu "higher than the Himalayas".
"And in this spirit, we will address all issues, whether boundary or any other subject," the Indian leader said.
