Support and assistance for the victims of the Odisha train tragedy have been pouring in ever since the news broke. It has not only come from the federal and state governments, but also from ordinary people who have queued up outside hospitals to donate blood to the injured.
Congress Party President Mallikarjun Kharge urged all political parties to come forward and extend help to the families of the deceased and those injured in the tragic train accident in Odisha on Saturday.

“Irrespective of the political parties, I request them to come forward and help... I extend my heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families,” Kharge told the media.

He also expressed his anger, claiming to have many questions for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnav.

“They have to answer why such things are happening and who is responsible for this but today we have to extend relief to the suffering people,” the Congress chief, who served as the railways minister in the Manmohan Singh-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government from 2013-14, said.

He also informed the media that Congress politicians from across the country have either reached or are on the way to the Balasore to offer their condolences to the families of the deceased and meet the injured.
Kharge likewise expressed his anguish on social media after the news about the three-train accident was released.
In a tweet on Friday night, the Congress chief said: “Deeply saddened by the terrible train tragedy involving Coromandel Express in Odisha. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims. We urge the authorities to expedite rescue operations and provide relief to the injured.”
He also urged all the Congress workers to provide all possible help to the victims.
At least 261 people have been killed in the crash, while more than 900 were injured after three trains – Bengaluru-Howrah Superfast Express, Shalimar-Chennai Central Coromandel Express and a goods train – collided in Balasore in Odisha on Friday evening.
