Renowned Indian actor Goofy Paintal, who shot to fame for playing the iconic role of Shakuni Mama in the 'Mahabharata' TV serial, passed away on Monday morning. He was 78.Paintal, who died due to heart failure, was suffering from many age-related diseases and was hospitalized last week after his health deteriorated. He breathed his last today at 9.00 a.m.Paintal's son Harry Paintal shared a note announcing his demise. Paintal, who became a household name for portraying the negative role of a wicked and cunning uncle in 'Mahabharata', died due to heart failure.The veteran actor gained popularity for his performance in Bollywood movies such as 'Suhaag' (1994), 'Dillagi' (1978), 'Des Pardes' (1978), 'Dawa' (1997) among others.According to the media reports, Paintal's funeral is scheduled to be held today at 4 pm.Several celebs and fans took to social media to offer condolences to his family and pay tribute to the actor.

"With profound grief, we announce the sad demise of our father Mr. Gufi Paintal (Shakuni Mama). He passed away peacefully this morning surrounded by family," Harry said.
