15:36 06.06.2023 (Updated: 15:51 06.06.2023) MOSCOW (Sputnik) - An Air India plane traveling from Delhi to San Francisco made a successful emergency landing in Russia's Magadan due to a malfunction, an aviation source told Sputnik on Tuesday.
"AIC173 flight of Air India en route from Delhi to San Francisco, a Boeing 777 aircraft, decided to make an unplanned landing at the Magadan airfield due to a malfunction. The landing was... safe," the source said.
“The plane had engine problems. The aircraft landed in Magadan. This is an Air India Boeing-777 VT-ALH. Technicians from Rossiya Airlines are currently working at the airport, they are investigating what the problem is and whether it can be quickly resolved. All passengers, 232 of them, are on board the aircraft. A decision will be made shortly on whether the aircraft can continue its flight," the authorities commented to Sputnik.
