On June 6 every year, Russian Language Day is celebrated, also marking the birth anniversary of the renowned Russian poet and the founder of the modern Russian language, Alexander Pushkin.
On Russian Language Day, Indian professors, students, and linguistic experts gathered at the Russian House in New Delhi to pay tribute to the great Russian poet Alexander Pushkin on his 224th birth anniversary.
The tribute was attended by Russian language course teachers and students at the Russian House, as well as professor-students from various faculties of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), the University of Delhi, and Russian citizens residing in Delhi.

Delhi's monument to Russia's illustrious poet Alexander Pushkin on Firoz Shah Road
The event began with the laying of flowers at the monument of Pushkin on Firoz Shah Road by Oleg Osipov, Director of the Russian House, Delhi, and chief guests including Professor Abhai Maurya, founder and retired vice-chancellor of the Central University of English and Foreign Languages, Hyderabad; Dr. Richa Sawant, Chairperson of the Centre of Russian Studies (CRS), School of Language, Literature and Culture Studies at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU); and Prof. Meeta Narain of the Centre of Russian Studies at JNU, among others.

An exhibition of the State Museum-Reserve of A.S. Pushkin Mikhailovskoe was held, showcasing illustrations for the novel in verse Eugene Onegin.
The students' amazing recital of Pushkin's renowned poems, their entertaining quiz about the life and contributions of the pioneer of modern Russian, and their viewing of a documentary about the Mikhailovsky Museum made for an enchanting literary session.
Students left everyone in awe with their mind-blowing singing performance of Russian songs.
