At least 25 were killed and over 145 injured as a result of the heavy downpour and strong winds in Pakistan’s northwest region, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, on Saturday. Multiple local media outlets reported the destruction of buildings and uprooted trees. According to preliminary information, 69 houses were damaged.On Saturday, Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif expressed his grief over the loss of life and ordered the concerned authorities to provide emergency aid to the injured people.Meanwhile, Sharif ordered officials to take emergency measures to prepare for Cyclone Biparjoy. The authorities are concerned that the death toll may rise.In June-October 2022, unprecedented rains caused floods throughout Pakistan, as a result 1,739 people died, millions lost their houses, and tens of thousands of buildings were destroyed. One-third of the country is said to have been submerged by flooding during that time.

All of Pakistan has been hit by heavy rains, and parts of its coastal areas are predicted to witness the cyclonic storm Biparjoy around June 15.
