India's comptroller and auditor general (CAG) is reportedly investigating alleged financial and administrative irregularities in the renovation of Delhi state chief Arvind Kejriwal's official residence. The lieutenant general (LG) claimed gross financial irregularities and violations or "extravagant expenditure" at the behest of "Hon'ble CM Madam" (Kejriwal's wife) in a letter to the CAG, in which he claims the renovation cost INR 527.1 million ($6 million). However, the Delhi government denied these allegations, arguing instead that it cost a mere INR 334.9 million, while the remaining INR 192.2 million was spent on a camp office for the state chief.Meanwhile, Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has accused the BJP of targeting their political opponents.

Soon after Delhi state chief Arvind Kejriwal's house was renovated in April, the opposition party in the state, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), alleged financial irregularities in the matter.
India's
comptroller and auditor general (CAG) is reportedly investigating alleged financial and
administrative irregularities in the renovation of
Delhi state chief Arvind Kejriwal's official residence.
The lieutenant general (LG) claimed gross financial irregularities and violations or "extravagant expenditure" at the
behest of "Hon'ble CM Madam" (Kejriwal's wife) in a letter to the CAG, in which he claims the renovation cost INR 527.1 million ($6 million).
However, the Delhi government denied these allegations, arguing instead that it cost a mere INR 334.9 million, while the remaining INR 192.2 million was spent on a camp office for the state chief.
Meanwhile, Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has accused the BJP of targeting their political opponents.
"The order for a CAG inquiry into the expenditure in the reconstruction of the chief minister's residence is exposing the desperation, cynicism and dictatorship of the BJP. Frustrated by the successive electoral defeats in Delhi, the BJP is plotting not only to defame the honest government of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal but also to grab power from behind the scenes," read a statement from the AAP.
