The governor of India's Bihar state, Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, escaped injury on Thursday after he tripped on a laid out carpet in the capital city of Patna on Thursday.The incident occurred just as the governor arrived to participate in a state organized function to pay tribute to Indian freedom fighter Mungeri Lal on his death anniversary.A video of the incident shows how just as he steps out of his car and is about to enter the venue, his foot gets entangled in the red carpet, near a pedestal fan, and falls. The official and the security detail accompanying him then quickly help the 69-year-old get back on his feet.Later, the governor walked toward the main venue where other distinguished guests were present. The event was attended by Bihar state chief Nitish Kumar and his Cabinet colleagues at the city's Shri Krishna Memorial Hall.

Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, who comes from the Bharatiya Janata Party, is the 31st governor of Bihar. He previously served as governor of Himachal Pradesh.
