Media reports suggest that the monsoon session is expected to begin in the old parliament building and later move to the new building. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the new parliament building in May.
Union Minister and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi on Saturday announced that the monsoon session of parliament would begin on 20 July and continue through 11 August.
The session will have 23 working days and 17 sittings, Joshi said in a series of tweets in Hindi. Joshi also urged all parties to contribute toward productive discussions in both houses.
The government has yet to confirm whether the sitting will be held in the new or old Parliament House.
The upcoming session is anticipated to be stormy, as the opposition is expected to demand an answer from the government regarding the ongoing ethnic violence in Manipur state.

The Centre will also table a bill over control of bureaucrats in the Delhi government. Earlier, in May, the union government passed an ordinance that said that a Centre-appointed lieutenant governor would handle the transfer of bureaucrats in Delhi, not the government in Delhi.
After this, Delhi state chief Arvind Kejriwal sought support from most opposition parties on the issue, except the Congress party.
Meanwhile, later in July, the Centre will list all the matters it will discuss in the parliament.
