14 July is set to make history for India's space sector as the nation's scientists are shooting for the moon with India's 3rd lunar mission — Chandrayaan-3.
Chandrayaan-3, India's third lunar mission, embarked on its journey on Friday, July 14.
The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) launched Chandrayaan-3 at 2.35pm on Friday from Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh.
The remarkable event, if successful, will make Bharat the fourth country, after the United States, Russia, and China, to make a soft-landing on the Moon.
It's worth noting that the attempt has been made by several nations, including India earlier, but with no success: the missions from Israel and India crash-landed in 2019, and the spacecraft carrying a lander-rover from Japan and a rover from the UAE failed in 2022.

"Till Chandrayaan-1, the moon was believed to be a bone-dry, geologically inactive and uninhabitable celestial body. Now, it is seen as a dynamic and geologically active body with the presence of water and sub-surface ice. Maybe in the future, it can be potentially inhabited!" Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted on Friday morning ahead of the launch.
