Ukraine's terrorist drone attack on the Crimea Bridge left a couple dead and wounded their 14-year-old daughter on July 17.
Ruchira Kamboj, India permanent representative to the United Nations (UN), has said that “attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure are deeply worrying," as the UN General Assembly convened a debate on Ukraine following Kiev's drone attacks on the Crimea Bridge.

“We are concerned about recent developments in the region which have not helped in securing the larger cause of peace and stability,” Kamboj stated at the UN on Tuesday, as she delivered India’s statement at the debate.

Kamboj underlined that the “escalation of hostilities” was in nobody’s interest, as she reiterated New Delhi’s previous call for an “urgent return to the path of dialogue and diplomacy” as a way out of the crisis.
“Dialogue is the only answer to settling differences and disputes, however daunting that may appear at this moment. The path to peace requires us to keep all channels of diplomacy open,” stated the Indian diplomat.
The Russian Foreign Ministry said that the terrorist attack by Ukrainian water-surface drones targeting the Crimean Bridge left a couple dead and their 14-year-old daughter injured on Monday. Kiev has since claimed responsibility for the attack.
On Tuesday, the Russian Defense Ministry claimed that it had “foiled” another multiple-drone attack by Kiev on the Crimean Peninsula.

‘Early Resolution’ on Black Sea Grain Deal Impasse

Kamboj went on to say that New Delhi supports the efforts in “continuing the Black Sea Grain Initiative” and expressed hope that the ongoing “impasse” over the deal’s extension would be resolved at the earliest opportunity.

She argued that the “entire Global South has suffered substantial collateral damage” due to spillover effects of the Ukraine conflict.

“It is thus critical that the voice of the Global South be heard, and their legitimate concerns be duly addressed,” Kamboj stated.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told his Turkish counterpart in a call on Tuesday that Moscow has halted the “implementation” of the grain deal beyond July 18 because of the “failure” to adhere to the commitments made in the Russia-UN Memorandum last year.
Moscow has blamed Kiev for “overtly commercializing” the humanitarian initiative even as Russian bank payments, logistics and insurance remain “blocked” due to Western sanctions.
The UN and Turkiye-brokered grain deal was signed last July to ensure exports of Ukrainian grain from three ports of Odessa, Chornomorsk, and Yuzhny/Pivdennyi.
At the time, the parties also committed to ensure the continuous exports of Russian food and fertilizers to the global markets, a promise which Moscow says wasn’t kept by western countries.
