The seven-year-old schoolgirl of Indian descent, Moksha Roy, has bagged the British Prime Minister’s Points of Light award for being the World’s Youngest Sustainability Advocate, an Indian news agency report said on Thursday.Deputy British Prime Minister Oliver Dowden, who bestowed the award to Roy last week, told the Indian news agency that Roy has set a remarkable example in her work championing UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).Roy's efforts started paying off when her school in the UK decided to no longer use plastic glitter, confetti, or plastic art supplies.She not only managed to get the SDGs included in her school curriculum but has also held talks with world leaders and encouraged them to adapt to SDGs. The young changemaker has also raised funds to help children in need and also assisted in educational sessions for deprived schoolchildren in India.Roy hopes that both children and adults understand that caring for the planet and its people and making small changes to everyday life by combatting challenges, like climate change, pollution, poverty, and inequality, should not be just for a few.
