Fresh spells of rain on Tuesday and Wednesday morning in the Delhi-National Capital Region (NCR) have sparked new fears among locals as the River Yamuna and its tributary Hindon are swelling up.River Yamuna was flowing mere centimetres below the danger mark, 205.33 metres, on Wednesday morning in Delhi. But it is expected to rise again by evening following rains in the upper catchment areas.The river touched a 45-year high earlier this month following heavy rain, flooding parts of Delhi and forcing the evacuation of thousands of people.Meanwhile, the water level in the Hindon rose on Tuesday. In one incident, it left nearly 350 cars parked near its embankment submerged at a private dump yard. People living near the river banks have been moved to safer places.The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rain in the northern Indian states of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand until 27 July, which may further swell up the river level.

Delhi and its adjoining states have witnessed heavy rainfall in July, causing the River Yamuna and its tributaries to cross the danger mark multiple times.

Yamuna and its tributary Hindon are swelling up.
River Yamuna was flowing mere centimetres below the danger mark, 205.33 metres, on Wednesday morning in Delhi. But it is expected to rise again by evening following rains in the upper catchment areas.
