23:19 28.07.2023 (Updated: 17:21 30.07.2023) The local police have been investigating the case of Noushad, who was registered as missing, after his father filed a complaint in 2021.
A man, who went missing one-and-a-half years ago from his rented home in the district of Pathanamthitta in India's Kerala, has been found in a village near Thodupuzha in the Idukki district of the state, local police said on Friday.
According to the police, the man, identified as 34-year-old Noushad, had been missing since November 2021. He was occupied as a labourer at a farm in Thommankuthu.
While talking to the media, Noushad revealed that he actually “left home because he was scared of his wife,” and alleged that he had been beaten by the people his wife used to call.
“I’m afraid to go back now. My wife has constantly harassed me. Some others along with my wife had attacked me. I did not know that the case in my name has become such an incident,” Noushad said, adding that he was not in touch with his family for about a year-and-a-half.
Noushad was found by the police, a day after his wife – Afsana – was arrested in connection with the case.
Ever since the police have opened an investigation into the case, Afsana has been changing her statement. First, she said that she killed her husband and buried his body. She said the body was buried on the premises of the rented house, but when the police searched it, nothing was found.
Similarly, she told the police on several occasions that the body of Noushad was hidden in a mosque cemetery or thrown into a river. During the questioning on Thursday, the woman said that she transported the body in an automobile.
However, durign her interrogation, the police found that her statement was false and took her into custody.
