21 MPs From Opposition On Two-Day Visit to Manipur

On Friday, Congress parliamentarian and veteran politician Naseer Hussain said that the Member of Parliaments (MPs) from 16 parties will visit violence-hit areas in both the valley and the hills of Manipur.
A 21-member delegation of opposition parties reached violence-hit Manipur on Saturday to assess the reality of the violence-hit state and make appropriate recommendations to the Parliament and government.
Members from the opposition Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) bloc will be visiting both the valley and hill areas. The delegation will also call on Manipur Governor Anusuiya Uikey on Sunday.
At least 150 people have died in Manipur, and 50,000 have been displaced so far in the state after communal violence erupted on May 3 between two local tribes -- the Kukis and Meities.
However, widespread public outrage only spread across the country after a video of the two tribal women being paraded naked went viral on July 19. It is being said that the incident occurred on May 4. So far, seven people have been arrested in connection with the case.
The delegation will include Congress leader in the Lower House Of Parliamentarian Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury and his party colleagues Gaurav Gogoi, Kodikunnil Suresh and Phulo Devi Netam besides Trinamool Congres’s Sushmita Dev, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha’s Mahua Maji, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam's Kanimozhi, National Congress Party’s Mohammad Faizal, Jayant Chaudhary of Rashtriya Lok Dal, Manoj Kumar Jha of Rashtriya Janata Dal, N K Premachandran of RSP and T Thirumavalavan of the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi, etc.
Meanwhile, the federal government agreed to discuss the law and order situation in Manipur in the Monsoon Session of the Indian Parliament.
