India celebrates its Independence Day on 15 August every year.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has sent a congratulatory message to Indian President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the occasion of India's Independence Day, the Kremlin said on Tuesday.

"Dear Madam President! Dear Mr. Prime Minister! Please accept my heartfelt congratulations on the occasion of India's national holiday — Independence Day ... We attach great importance to the especially privileged strategic partnership with New Delhi," the message read, as quoted by the Kremlin.

With the end of British colonial rule, India became an independent nation in 1947 on August 15. Since then, the day is commemorated with much fanfare and deep fervour. Be it school, college, or other institutes, the general mood is patriotic.
