US Prepping for New Pandemic by Developing Virus Mutations
14:58 16.08.2023 (Updated: 16:02 16.08.2023) The United States has started 'getting ready' for a new pandemic by searching for virus mutations.
This was shared by Lt. Gen. Igor Kirillov, head of the radiation, chemical and biological defense troops of the Russian Armed Forces on Wednesday.
"The priority areas of this department include work on the creation of vaccines and drugs for stopping viruses and their genetically modified variants, as well as the introduction of advanced technologies in bioproduction. Thus, the
United States, as it was in 2019, began preparing for a
new pandemic by implementing search for virus mutations," Kirillov told reporters.
The US can use its so-called defensive
biological technologies for
offensive purposes, as well as for the purposes of global management by creating crisis situations of a biological nature, the official added.
In July, the US established the the White House Office of Pandemic Preparedness and Response Policy, led by Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director for Global Health Security and Biosecurity at the National Security Council, retired Air Force Major General Paul Friedrichs.
US Biolabs Near Russian Borders
In February 2022, the Russian Defense Ministry discovered the existence of 30 US-funded military biological laboratories in Ukraine. Russia also said that the labs revealed in Ukraine constituted only a small part of a global network of over 300 similar facilities.
Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev said earlier that Moscow is particularly concerned by the Pentagon's biolabs operating in Central Asia, similar to those it used to run in Ukraine and Georgia. These labs are capable of creating "race-specific" viruses.
Not only Ukraine has turned into a testing ground for US biological weapons, Washington is also eyeing Moldova and some Shanghai Cooperation Organisation states for that purpose, Patrushev said.
