The popular Hindu festival marks the celebration of the eternal siblings' bond. This year, the festival is set to fall on August 30 and 31.
Many jewelry shops in India's diamond city of Surat in Gujarat state have launched gold, silver, and diamond-studded rakhis to woo customers to make ornamental purchases ahead of the Raksha Bandhan festival.
On Raksha Bandhan, sisters tie a sacred thread ''Rakhi' around their brothers' wrists, and pray for their well-being and happiness. In return, the brothers promise to protect and honor their sisters throughout their life.
With unique designs and patterns, the designer ornamental rakhis are leaving netizens who wish to express their love by getting nothing less than the finest rakhis for their brothers impressed.
Even after the festival finishes, these ornamental rakhis can be worn as an accessory.
Shops across India have been immersed in the festive spirit as they display a wide variety and range of rakhis that cost between INR 10 ($0.12) and hundreds of thousands of rupees.
Last year, a shop in Surat City came into the limelight for selling one of the most expensive rakhis worth INR 500,000 ($6,000).
