Putin and Modi Discuss Upcoming G-20 Leaders' Summit in New Delhi

The Russian president and his Indian counterpart discussed the upcoming G-20 Leaders' Summit in New Delhi, among other issues.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has held telephone talks with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Kremlin said on Monday.

"The results of the XV BRICS Summit in Johannesburg were discussed. The significance of the reached agreements was emphasized, first of all, the expansion of the BRICS, which will undoubtedly contribute to the growth of the grouping’s influence in international affairs," the Kremlin said in a statement, adding that the sides also "exchanged views" over the upcoming G20 summit in New Delhi on September 9-10.

Putin also once again congratulated Modi on the successful landing of the Indian lunar mission on the South Pole of the Moon. The leaders also confirmed intention to develop space cooperation.
"Readiness was confirmed to further develop bilateral cooperation in the space field," the statement read.
Putin and Modi also expressed mutual desire to implement large-scale energy projects and expand "the international transport and logistics infrastructure," the Kremlin said.

Ukraine Not on G-20 Agenda

G-20 Summit will be held in New Delhi on Septemper 9-10 under India's presidency. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said earlier that Putin was not planning on participating in the summit, as the main focus was on special military operation in Ukraine.
Previously, Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is not invited to the event.

"We certainly have no plans, and I have nothing to share with you, regarding any meeting on Ukraine during the G20 summit," the MEA's spokesman Arindam Bagchi said.
