On Monday, the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) stated that over 191,000 people have been affected by the floods after incessant rains increased the water level in most rivers above danger marks..One death was reported on Monday, taking the total toll due to floods this year to 15. As per ASDMA, as many as 17 districts were affected by the flood, the worst-hit districts are – Lakhimpur and Dhemaji.Meanwhile, ferry services in Guwahati, Nematighat and Majuli have been suspended in view of the river's rising water level.The ASDMA said 8,086.40 hectares of farmlands are ruined, and 130,514 animals have been impacted.Many parts of Assam are prone to floods during the monsoon.n. Last year, floods and landslides in the northeastern state had left at least 197 dead and thousands displaced.According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Assam will likely keep witnessing heavy rainfall until September 1.
