India successfully launched Chandrayaan-3's rover Vikram on the Moon's south Pole on August 23. The South Pole of Earth's satellite remains a mystery for astronomers as it still largely unexplored, although Chandrayaan-1 did confirm that water is present there.
On Tuesday, The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) shared an update on Chandrayaan-3's Pragyan Rover.

“Hello, earthlings! This is Chandrayaan-3's Pragyan Rover. I hope you're doing well. I want to let everyone know that I'm on my way to uncover the secrets of the Moon. Me and my friend Vikram Lander are in touch. We're in good health. The best is coming soon,” Chandrayaan-3's official X account posted on Tuesday.

The South Pole of the Moon has been untouched by sunlight for billions of years, it offers an undisturbed record of the solar system's origins. The South Pole's permanently enshadowed craters are estimated to hold nearly 100 million tons of water.
However, the freezing cold weather and darkness are a challenge for the explorers.
Earlier this week, ISRO scientist B H M Darukesha, while sharing an update on the temperature around the Vikram said, "We all believed that the temperature could be somewhere around 20 degree centigrade to 30 degree centigrade on the surface, but it is 70 degrees centigrade. This is surprisingly higher than what we had expected."
