The Indian Navy has made a renewed push to cement ties with friendly countries, especially in New Delhi's neighborhood in recent years.
Indian Navy chief Admiral R. Hari Kumar met his Bangladesh counterpart Admiral Mohammad Nazmul Hassan at the Defense Ministry's headquarters in South Block in New Delhi on Wednesday.
The visit of Nazmul Hassan comes at a time when the two nations have put a major thrust on their maritime ties, with the Indian Ocean Region (IOR) becoming the focal point of global trade and geopolitics.
Before holding talks with Kumar, the chief of Bangladesh's Naval Staff visited the National War Memorial in the Indian capital, where he paid tributes to the country's martyrs.

India's Excellent Bilateral Relations With Bangladesh

New Delhi shares excellent bilateral ties with Dhaka as described by the Indian Ministry of External Affairs recently.
Earlier this month, India invited Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to participate in the G20 summit held under New Delhi's presidency.
India's gesture earned praise from Bangladesh, given that the latter isn't a member of the powerful economic bloc.
Subsequently, Sheikh Hasina arrived in New Delhi for the G20 summit, where she also held bilateral talks with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
"Had productive deliberations with PM Sheikh Hasina. The progress in India-Bangladesh relations in the last 9 years has been very gladdening. Our talks covered areas like connectivity, commercial linkage and more," Modi wrote on X following his discussions with Hasina.
