Felicitations have been pouring into the nation from around the world to congratulate India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi for turning 73 today.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will resist all inclination to devote this auspicious day to merry-making and instead will spend his birthday working by launching various new development projects and campaigns.
Prime Minister Modi’s birthday coincides with the Hindu puja (festival) for Lord Vishwakarma Jayanti who is considered the divine architect and craftsman.
Modi praised the efforts of people involved in various forms of craftsmanship, including artisans, engineers, architects, mechanics, and factory workers, as he marked the festival.
He said in a tweet that he believed craftsmen's skills will lead the country to new heights that will last forever.
Modi also announced plans to launch his ambitious scheme, 'PM Vishwakarma' worth INR130Bln ($1.6Bln) which aims to advance the opportunities for artisans, craftsmen, and others engaged in traditional skills.
Celebrations by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for the Prime Minister throughout the states is creating a buzz of excitement. To mark this special occasion, numerous leaders and workers will launch the 'sewa pakhwara' (fortnight of service) that will continue until 2 October, the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi.
During the fortnight, BJP leaders and workers will reach out to different sections of society with a host of welfare activities including blood-donation camps, cleanliness drives, health camps, and others.
The Union Health Ministry will introduce the ‘Ayushman Bhav’ campaign today to ensure the best possible healthcare to every intended beneficiary during sewa pakhwara.
The Prime Minister on Sunday declared the first phase of the India International Convention and Expo Centre (IICC), named YashoBhoomi, open in Dwarka, New Delhi.
He also gave the green light for the Delhi Airport Metro Express line from Dwarka Sector 21 to be extended to a new metro station at Dwarka Sector 25 today.
After the launch, Modi took a ride on the Metro and spoke to some of the passengers with whom he happened to be travelling.
Several political leaders and dignitaries took to social media to send their good wishes to Modi, who was born on 17 September 1950 in Vadnagar town in the state of Gujarat.
India's President Droupadi Murmu extended her best wishes and said that Modi, with his foresight and strong leadership, continues to pave the way for India's development in every field during the 'amrit kaal' (golden age).
