Asian Games: India Wins 3 Silver, 2 Bronze Medals in Rowing, Shooting

On Saturday, Chinese President Xi Jinping kicked off the 19th Asian Games in the eastern city of Hangzhou with a rousing opening ceremony. The Games will be held in 56 venues over the next two weeks.
The Indian players will begin their quest for medals on the first day of the Asian Games on Sunday.
The trio of Ramita, Mehuli Ghosh and Ashi Chouksey won the first silver medal for the country in the Women's 10m Air Rifle Team.
China won the gold medal in the Women's 10m Air Rifle Team event with a score of 1896.6, India's total score was 1886 and Mongolia finished third.
Young 19-year-old Indian shooter Ramita won a bronze medal in the women's 10m air rifle individual event.
Rowing: India won silver and bronze in rowing.
In the men's double sculls, the Indian pair of Arjun Lal Jat and Arvind Singh won silver, while Babu Lal Yadav and Lekh Ram took bronze.
Hockey: India cruised to an easy 16-0 hockey win over Uzbekistan on Sunday.
China has been the undisputed winner of the Asian Games since 2014, bagging the maximum number of medals, followed by Japan and South Korea. India have finished fourth in recent years.
Cricket: India beat Bangladesh by 8 wickets to reach the final.
Some 655 Indian athletes are taking part in the Asian Games. The country is vying for top honours in 39 sports, including individual and team events.
While 'Aab ki Baar, Sau Paar' (which translates as 'Over 100 medals this time') is India's slogan, it also means that the Indian contingent is aiming for a haul of 100 medals at the quadrennial event in China.
India have never won so many medals in any international competition, let alone the Asiad. At the last edition of the Asian Games in Jakarta, India won 70 medals, including 16 yellow metals. This was India's highest medal haul in the history of the Asian Games.
