It is important to note that the export of agricultural products made up a large part of the Russian budget, along with the export of gas and oil.
This season, India took second place in the import of vegetable oils from Russia, doubling its purchases of Russian sunflower oil.
Russia this year exported twice as much sunflower oil than it did last year and more than three times as much soybean oil.
At the end of the 2022/23 season, India purchased 683,000 tons of Russian sunflower oil, more than twice the amount it imported in the 2021/22 season, reports FSBI Agroexport. At the same time, the volume of imports of Russian soybean oil amounted to 131,000 tons, which is 3.5 times as much as in the previous season, the department said in a statement

The executive director of Russia's Oil and Fat Union, Mikhail Maltsev, in his commentary for Agroexport, points out that this means that India has taken second place from the top three leaders in the import of domestic vegetable oils. At the same time, the expert noted that the consumption of vegetable oils on the Indian market continues to grow, which means that one can expect exports in this direction will also grow.

Earlier, the Solvent Extractors Association Of India (SEA) published data which showed that the country's imports of vegetable oils increased by 55.3 percent, to 2.54Mln tons. Russia became the biggest exporter of these products to the Indian market, increasing supplies by 93.3 percent, to 821,800 tons of vegetable oil.
